Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced the Survivors FIRST Program, a diversion initiative for individuals charged with crimes who have experienced gender-based violence. The program places eligible participants’ prosecutions on hold for 180 days while they receive trauma-informed support and services through a partnership with First Step. Participants may receive counseling, housing assistance, safety planning, help with basic needs, employment resources, and legal aid based on their individual needs.
