First Step
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced the Survivors FIRST Program, a diversion initiative for individuals charged with crimes who have experienced gender-based violence. The program places eligible participants’ prosecutions on hold for 180 days while they receive trauma-informed support and services through a partnership with First Step. Participants may receive counseling, housing assistance, safety planning, help with basic needs, employment resources, and legal aid based on their individual needs. Those who actively participate in the program and avoid new criminal charges may have their pending cases dismissed, subject to prosecutorial discretion and program eligibility requirements.More information can be found online at www.waynecountymi.gov/Government/Elected-Officials/Prosecutor/Special-Victims-Unit/Survivors-FIRS... ...
