First Step’s Adopt A Family Program

Thanks to all of our generous donors, we have exceeded our Adopt a Family goal for this year! We can still use your support beyond the holiday season. For many families, the holidays are their favorite time of year, as friends, family, and loved ones gather for a special meal and exchange gifts. However, for those who do not have a safe, peaceful home or gifts for their children, the holiday season can be full of fear and sadness.

Many of the families we care for will be spending their holidays in our residential shelter for the first time. The transition into shelter can be challenging for survivors and their children, especially this time of year.

We are lucky to have come to know these families, their stories and show them that they are not alone and there are people who care. We celebrate many different holidays this time of year, including Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and New Year’s. With your help, we can make this celebratory season a joyous one for all of our families.

By adopting a family, you will be empowering survivors to take a small step towards independence. By clicking the button above, you will be able to select the family size you would like to adopt this holiday. We will use these donated funds to purchase gift cards for the family.

These gift cards will give our families the dignity to purchase gifts for their children and prepare a special meal to help make the shelter feel more like home.
