Healing Garden and Playscape
In July 2015, First step opened a one of a kind, state of the art Healing Garden and Playscape for our families. Our playground architect and project manager, Jonathan Dreyfuss, from Greenscape Systems, carefully and thoughtfully designed the Healing Garden and Playscape. This space embodies all of the design and behavioral science elements that go into hospital healing gardens. It also contains unique play stations for children and teens of all ages. First Step believes that with the addition of our healing playscape, fitness and relaxation areas, our families will thrive.
We also envision the playscape to be a place where staff can eat lunch, take a break and recover from the secondary trauma and stress that occurs when working with victims of violence.
